More than 250 flights in India have been under bomb threats in the last fortnight, which has thrown the country’s aviation sector into a state of complete disarray. As alarming as this trend is, on October 24 alone, a total of 25 such threats were reported from Akasa Air and 20 flights each of Air India, IndiGo, and Vistara, besides five from SpiceJet and Alliance Air.

The majority of these threats trace their source back to social media, which has led the authorities to believe they are hoaxes.
