A primary-grade Virginia teacher who was shot by a 6-year-old student has sued Newport Information faculty officers for $40 million in damages.

Within the lawsuit filed by Abby Zwerner, the teacher accused the district of gross negligence for allegedly ignoring a number of warnings on the day of the taking pictures that the boy had a gun and was in a “violent mood”.

Zwner, a 25-year-old teacher at Richneck Elementary College in Newport Information, was shot within the arm and chest on January 6 as she sat at her classroom studying desk.

She was hospitalized for about two weeks after being shot. The taking pictures shocked the navy shipbuilding neighborhood and despatched shock waves throughout the nation, with many questioning how a younger youngster might attain a gun and shoot his teacher.

Zwerner’s lawyer, Diane Toscano, informed reporters in January that involved faculty workers had warned directors thrice that the kid had a gun and was threatening different college students earlier than Zwerner was shot. Toscano mentioned the college administration was “paralyzed by apathy” and didn’t name the police, take away the boy from class or shut the college.
