From Kelly and Sherry Robinson:
“With deep sadness and a broken heart, We bring the news that our dear Dad Red Robinson passed away at 8:15 this morning after a brief illness. We are so glad we got to spend his final moments with him, and having his brother Bill there made it even more special.
Most people knew our dad as a rock’n’roll DJ, a TV personality, owner of an advertising agency, a spokesman, or through his philanthropic work. He was larger than life in many ways, but to us, he was a devoted father and grandfather, a loving husband to our late mother Carol, and a loyal friend to everyone else. Red’s departure leaves a huge hole in our lives, as well as the lives of everyone he touches in the worlds of radio, TV, music and entertainment. An event celebrating his amazing life will be announced soon, and we invite you to share your memories here on Facebook.
We can’t think of a better way to sum up Dad’s life than with the lyrics of one of Elvis’ favorite songs, “If I Can Dream”: Out there in the dark, there’s a lit candle…and while I can’t think While I can talk, as long as I can stand, as long as I can walk… as long as I can dream, oh please make my dream come true… now.’

My colleague DJ Redd Robinson is chatting backstage with Elvis and the many teddy bears given to him by fans. Redd was Vancouver’s top teen radio DJ and was the MC for Elvis’ shows in the city in 1957.
